October Newsletter🍁
Hey everyone! As the leaves change colours 🍂 and the weather gets colder ❄️ , my newsletter starts back up. Welcome or welcome back to my newsletter! I’m Khushi and I’m a 15-year-old TKS Innovator, swimmer 🏊♀️ and student and I’m currently working on building myself into a unicorn person 🦄 (someone who impacts billions).
October has been a month of cold weather ❄️ , swimming in cold water 🏊♀️ , and stressful but important times. Over the course of this month, I’ve made a significant dent in my time at TKS (The Knowledge Society) as well as at Havergal College and NYAC (North York Aquatic Club). I’ve also started making a bigger effort in taking care of my mental health as times get stressful.
Focusing on Cellular Agriculture; The future of our food 🍔
At TKS, we learn about different emerging technologies independently, through 2 ways; explores and focuses. Explores are different 8-10 hour modules made by TKS alumni and give you the basic level knowledge of a certain technology through videos, articles and podcasts. It is made to spark your interest⚡️ and to help you figure out whether that technology is the one for you.
After you’ve done a few explores (I’ve done regenerative medicine, cellular agriculture, AI, Blockchain, Longevity, and the future of food explores), you are to choose your favourite one to go into a focus with.
A focus is a more in-depth way of learning about a certain emerging tech. It’s about deepening your knowledge in a certain area. There are 3 parts to a focus; learn, apply, review, idea. By the end of the focus, you have a portfolio of articles, videos and projects to show your knowledge in-depth.
I’m currently working on writing my learn article for my focus in cellular agriculture! (which you can read more about in my September Newsletter) 👀
Becoming Among The Elite at TKS 🏅
Velocity is a program for TKS students who want to make TKS their number🥇 priority. The goal is to grow 10x by focusing in a specific area and relentlessly pursuing excellence 💯 .
Every Wednesday morning, I’ll be up bright and early to attend the 6:30 am Velocity Session. I want to excel greatly at TKS and therefore am committing to this vigorous program. I want to make the most of my time at TKS and Velocity is a way to extend my learning and change my lifestyle for the better. As terrified as I am for it, I am just as excited!
Lack of education presentation 📚
Many children around the world aren’t able to attend schools in developing countries. In 2017, the UN estimated that approximately 600 million children weren’t able to master the basic math and literacy skills while at school because of the lack of good education and the poor communities.
This is a big issue that is happening in our world today. To learn more about this issue and what you can do to help, check out my presentation below:
A bit rusty but still brought home the gold!!🏊♀️
As I mentioned in my intro, I swim competitively 6x a week. Swimming competitively is something that I’ve been doing for many years and something that I want to continue in my future.
After quitting swim for a year and COVID happening, I wasn’t able to attend a swim meet for almost 2.5 years. This month, I was finally able to compete at a swim meet and I think I did quite well and I placed first in all 4 of my events🏅. Despite not being a very large meet, it was nice to finally be back and was an honorary staple of my month!
